Information on the disk, included name, address, Social Security number, date of birth and salary data. See additional information here.

The CWA Communications and Technologies has an additional Q&A here.

A laptop computer was stolen from an Avaya employee in Florida. Information on the computer may include your name, address, W-2 form data, and/or social security number. All present and former employees should be receiving a letter about this. All affected should watch for unauthorized new credit accounts or changes to existing ones.

Important message for all Lucent Retirees

The Pensioners Association sent out information pertaining to H. R. 4 to all retirees with Nebraska and Iowa addresses asking retirees to sign enclosed post cards to local representatives in Congress. Those of you who receive this information, please read it, sign the enclosed cards, place a stamp on the cards and mail them immediately.

To all retirees living outside of Nebraska-Iowa, please read the following letter and then craft your own letter to your local representatives in the state in which you are residing, using the format at the bottom of this email. As you can see, failure to get this language changed in H. R. 4 may mean money out of your pocket.

September 12, 2006

Dear Lucent Retiree:

Want to pay $300 to $600 a month for your Lucent healthcare??? Your healthcare costs are in jeopardy.

We have been pushing for H.R. 4— THE PENSION REFORM ACT OF 2006. This legislation was signed into law on August 17, 2006. Reviewing the section of this law that pertains to Lucent, a technical language change MUST be made. The bill currently states that Lucent may make a transfer only one time in the life of the contract. The bill (to comply with Lucent/CWA/IBEW contract language) should read: Yearly transfers of funds to the retiree Health Care fund, If this language change is not made, Lucent/CWA/IBEW will go back into bargaining on Health Care. If this happens, it is for sure Lucent will take a hard line, deliberately reach an impasse with the unions, and then be able to implement their new, high cost Health Care plan if Lucent succeeds, it is estimated to cost Lucent Retirees $300 To $600 per month for health care.

It is of the utmost importance that you contact your Senators and Representative immediately.

We only have until September 30. Just say you are a Lucent Retiree and you want the Congressmen’s or Senator’s support in getting technical language changes made to the Pension Reform Act before September 30. Those changes are on the enclosed postcard if they should ask you. The contents of the postcard can be read on the phone, faxed, emailed or mailed to the legislator. If you value your health care and want to keep costs down you must participate now. Help get this technical language change made as soon as possible. We can not over emphasize the importance of this.

Don’t wait for someone else to do it - act now!!!

Mail the enclosed cards immediately.

Fraternally,
Lyle Nicholson
President

A copy of the above mentioned letter can be found here. The date. Dear ??, and your personal information can be edited, and then printed, if you must use this method. Please note, a hand written or type letter is more effective than a form letter.
